BY KIMIA NIMAEI
A visual exploration on constraint and defiance, where the fragile contours of imagined freedom begin to take shape
WANT MORE PARISHĀN CONTENT?
This book further informs the short film trilogy, Parishān: exploring womanhood, control, and resistance within the context of control, religious oppression. Blending personal narrative with visual storytelling, this project reflects on the past, confronts the present, and imagines what freedom could look like for the future of Iran.
This lookbook presents the styling and visual language of the Parishān project. Each look reflects the themes of identity, control, and resistance explored throughout the films.
As a proud Iranian woman I stand with my people suffering in silence during times like these. As you delve into the world of Parishān, I invite you to join me on a suspenseful journey depicting woman of colours struggles in religious oppression.
